Okay enough faffing about with the Fuji. Back to big boy toys for when one has to do big boy things. (we joke, we joke….) (but only sort of)
Watched this — felt like shooting this ↑.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to find wheat fields anywhere in or around Tokyo? Basically impossible — we had to settle for some nearly dead pampas grass alongside a super secret location in the outskirts of the city.
Kudos to my model who was basically freezing the entire time. The idea was originally to do one series with our go-to setup of the Canon 1DXm2 + 85mm f/1.2L II and then do the next set (in the same area) with the Fuji X-T2 + 56mm f/1.2 R (because despite the hard time we’re giving it, we do realise there’s a learning curve we need to overcome), but the poor girl was shivering and turning blue after 10 minutes so we just called it after no more than 30 frames.
You know, it’s funny. We bag on the Fuji’s lower quality out of camera versus the Canon’s but what’s the first thing we do with the files out of our $10,000 piece of kit? That’s right - dump it into Lightroom and crank up a bunch of artificial grain and blow out the highlights with the curves and split toning. :/
